NCPs CaRE: a Project Hub for a Greener Future

Now, more than ever, it is crucial that projects addressing environmental concerns succeed. Thanks to services like NCPs CaRE, their ideas can become a reality before it’s too late.
What Is NCPs CaRE?
NCPs CaRE is at the forefront of recognising talent and promise when it comes to green, sustainable solutions to preserve the planet. The company works with thousands of businesses and small research centres on ideas related to climate change.
The ‘NCPs’ part of the company’s name refers to “national contact points.” Meanwhile, ‘CaRE’ is a multi-level acronym that combines “climate action, raw materials, environment, and resource efficiency.” In other words, the company aims to be a mediator between the EU and projects aiming to bring society eco-innovations.
In particular, NCPs CaRE is looking for projects that address the following challenges:
- Global warming;
- Pollution-causing technology;
- Overly-high CO2 emissions;
- Raw materials scarcity, and other urgent problems threatening the environment.
NCPs CaRE offers advanced help to such projects to help them secure funding. It reviews project proposals and other documentation to help each idea stand out better and get one step closer to securing the necessary funds to build it and bring it to the mass market.
But while various NCPs already exist in each country, trying to build a local hub of ideas and researchers, NCPs CaRE focuses on fostering an international environmental research community.
Rather than being just another NCP, this company works to improve the communication and coordination between existing NCPs from different countries. It hopes to improve their chances of success and take their research quality to the next level through improved international cooperation.
This NCP network currently works with 50 partners from 41 different countries. Furthermore, it’s constantly on the lookout for more Societal Challenge 5 (SC5) NCPs it can support.

- For research projects: If you run an SC5 research project, you can use NCPs CaRE’s website to find a local NCP to help you. Through them and the support NCPs CaRE can give them, your project will gain access to European Commission funds to get your ideas through the finish line.
About the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme
Horizon 2020 is a massive research initiative spearheaded by the European Union. It aims to provide over 80 billion euro worth of funding over the course of seven years for research on various topics that will contribute to building a more sustainable future for humanity.
The project hopes to find promising creations from small labs and businesses and help turn them into a reality.
NCPs CaRE is one such recipient of funds from the Horizon 2020 programme. It stands between the European Commission and local NPCs to offer mediation services and bring promising environmental projects to fruition.
