The 2nd JPI Oceans conference took place in Lisbon on 26 October 2017 and presented the first results of the actions and projects initiated under the framework of JPI Oceans. The event provided an excellent opportunity for stakeholders from research and industry to network and discuss with policy makers from across Europe.
Partners involved in the JPI Oceans joint actions discussed the outcomes, opportunities and future outlooks of their activities.
In the first session were introduced next joint actions: Ecological aspects of deep sea mining (Minigimpact project), Munitions in the Sea, Marine calibration network, MarTERA ERA-NET Cofund on marine and maritime technologies and ERA-NET Cofund on blue bio-economy.
And in the second session: Ecological aspects of microplastics, with its 4 projects (BASEMAN project, WEATHER-MIC project, PLASTOX project, EPHEMARE project), Intercalibration for the EU Water Framework Directive and Food and nutrition security.
The event further highlighted the results of CSA Oceans 2, the Horizon 2020 Support Action aimed to support the JPI.
Four parallel sessions took place to discuss about transversals topics: Looking beyond Europe-International cooperation in research funding, Beyond dissemination- Creating impact with marine science communication, Open science clinic- An introduction to terms and operation of Open Access and Open Data and Harnessing the potential of innovative technologies for the maritime sector.
The event was attended by 275 participants.
